Earn Extra Cash as a Computer Tutor

October 30th 2006 04:08
Recently, I found out from an ex-colleague who retired two years ago that he started a small business to teach older or senior citizens how to go online, know how to use email, and even do some online searching.

This is a good way for grandparents and parents to keep in touch with their children, grandkids, and other family members. Often, this older people are keen to use the computer but they don't know how. Perhaps the best to target are communities or local organizations.

A tip in teaching them is to make it really appear to them that computer is useful and can be fun. Then these older people will not feel intimidated, instead, will want to learn more.

That's an interesting business I'd not have thought of... and it's something even young'ns could do for extra cash, really! Heck, most of what I know about computers today I learned from my kids! *LOL* - Sure would beat mowin' lawns or getting a paper route.

My husband's father and his wife refuse to get a computer. They know the world is moving forward without them, but they're okay with that. They're not up for the headaches of learning new technology.

My mammaw (bless her heart) had a computer for about two weeks, then got frustrated and gave it up.

Even my mom struggled with the computer and she's only 54! Computers were around when I was a kid, although not in virtually every household as they are today, so she shouldn't have been a complete stranger to computer life and language. It intimidates her, though. She could have used a professional tutor with extreme patience. Instead, she got me. *LOL* - Then she got a new job requiring her to learn multiple computer programs and functions, so she's getting much better.

I'm sure your Mom's doing very well. Plus, there's always the greatest backup. In her mind? Fear not, Wendi will provide. LOL. Isn't she blest.

Enjoy your weekend W.
